FAQs
What is a Podcamp?
Podcamp is a community-based open-source conference for new media enthusiasts and professionals including bloggers, podcasters, social networkers, and anyone curious about new media. The first podcamp was held September 2006 in Boston and has evolved into over 56 podcamps held across seven countries.
Podcamp is designed to nurture our community by providing an environment where we all can learn, share and grow together. This allows us to expand our knowledge and become better at what we do while continuing to share our experiences with the world. From CEOs to students, everyone is a “rockstar” and we want you to share your expertise.
Podcamp is based on six (6) basic rules:
Who Should Attend?
Podcamp Houston is not just about podcasting! We welcome prominent bloggers, audio and video podcasters, content writers, distributors, mainstream media professionals, educators, enthusiasts, business owners, musicians, PR reps and anyone who crave a deeper understanding of the new media space and its applications.
The quality of Podcamp Houston is based on you. We encourage you to actively share and contribute your expertise. This event is about coming together to share, learn and grow in order to become better at what we do while sharing it to the world.
If you are interested in doing something in new media and understand the influential power of the internet, this is where you want to be. The social media scene is constantly evolving and changing the way traditional media operates.
How much does it cost?
Podcamp Houston is FREE to attend thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. Individual donations are also welcome – the more the merrier!
What should I expect?
The entry-level information at Podcamp Houston is pre-determined by the Podcamp Houston Organizers. This ensures that participants with little or no experience in the subject matter have access to the basics in a simple, participation-driven format.
The rest of the presentations are organized by you, the attendees, using a whiteboard grid located at the entrance of the Houston Technology Center (HTC) to add your own 30-minute sessions to the schedule any time during the event. We encourage you to post your session topic along with a brief description, so other participants may have an idea of what to expect.
What’s in it for me?
Meeting and networking with your favorite podcasters, bloggers and web innovators.
Q&A sessions, peer mentoring and hallway conversations that broaden your knowledge.
Gaining increased understanding of the robust social media market and industry.
Discovering potential business opportunities as consultants, contractors or employers looking to work with established, local talent.
We encourage you to take an active role in community-based conversations and workshops focused on getting started, enhancing your effectiveness and building your network. This is an exciting opportunity to expand your knowledge, share worlds and grow within an emerging technology.
